It took me 4 years including a very long 2019/2020 to understand what represents me the most and make it as personal as possible.
In September 2020, I went on a 3 day self reflection weekend away in nature with a notebook & pen.

I wanted to get a tattoo that represents the revolution, which not only fueled my patriotism and activism, it changed my perspective on life, reinforced my values and goals and reshaped my connections to myself and others.

It was a tougher process than I expected. And I migrated from merely commemorating the October 17th date to examining what deeply matters to me. I journaled, searched, noted down and scribbled until I came to the draft result.

With the help of @ink.monk , my newly met Artist and now friend, I was able to identify my trinity and sources of power.

And on October 10, 2020, I inked my 3 most important values.

Freedom

with the number 3, representing trinity, discreetly blended in the design.
When Assaad was inking, I teared, several times, not from the pleasurable pain I was feeling, but because of the personal meaning behind it and the journey that brought me to where I am, and that will carry on so long the heart is beating.
It wasn’t just a tattoo, it was self revelation.

Tip: If you want to get inked, go through the process I described. Try to look inside before inking outside. It will stay with you forever, so you’re better off making it meaningful to you.
Oh and do your research to make sure you have a skilled artist to do it for you, one that cares for the story not only the ink.
