Expecting mothers. I understand how scary it is, not knowing the big change that is coming your way, a change that will reshape your life. I tell you, the only way to feel more at peace is to live through every moment of your pregnancy, try to enjoy the now, without looking too much ahead. Every phase of motherhood has its own taste and feel and its distinctive set of pleasures and challenges, and you’ll be able to embrace them when the time comes.
Mothers who lost a child, and children who lost their mothers. I understand how Mother’s Day reignites the sadness and sorrow you have inside, and how much waking up every day, and trying to carry on with your lives can be challenging while the pain of loss still lingers.
Those who still haven’t accepted themselves as mothers. Damn, it took me years to accept myself as a mother, and until today, it sometimes still feels like a challenge. It takes a lot of time to build self-acceptance, especially with the multiple roles you play every day and want to balance.
Mothers going through a divorce. I understand that whether the father is present or absent, the change you are going through is nevertheless life-changing. Yes, it can be very scary and the only way to go about it is to work on your inner-selves and believe in the potential you have inside. You are the master of your own lives and are fully capable of raising your children the best way you believe they can be raised, and even rebuilding and thriving in your careers.
Single Mothers raising children on their own. I am one and definitely know how hard it can be, especially when you’re juggling the household needs, schooling, extra-curricular activities, your own work, and trying to find some space for self-care and a social life. Sometimes, you feel like you just want to hide and cry.
Warrior mothers who struggle every single day to put food at the table. I bow to you and to your efforts and the many sleepless nights and exhausting days.
